Thinking before we speak!
Many a times we have landed ourselves in difficult situation
or difficult phase of a relationship by just uttering words without thinking.
We may end up hurting our loved ones.
The most important thing to realise here is that if someone
is having a lot of negative impact then its you yourself!
After yelling or maybe simply after having an unhealthy
argument or debate with the other person have you ever felt that you have lost
all or most of your energy and you feel fatigue , restless and irritated. You
may also end up feeling less focused for the rest of the day. Not just the
energy of mind and body gets exhausted sometimes we may end up losing our
ethical values and self respect after an impulsive reaction that might have
been totally unnecessary.
After all these unpleasant situation if at all we get
something then its
-
An angry mind(spoiling our peace of mind)
-
Regret
-
Frustration
Having said that,
its also important to have a look on how are mind is clever
enough and tries its best to tempt us to do something that may sound like a
temporary satisfactory action but is a disaster in the long run.
Therefore its rightly said that “ You either control your
mind or it controls you”
Now,
Here is where meditation comes in.
For most of us meditation may sound as sitting in a “sadhu”
posture for like hours and doing nothing! But meditation is actually a state of
mind which when achieved can do wonders in our everyday lives ,our peace of
mind our focus and our decisions in life.
We can actually practice meditation in simplest activities
even while eating, while listening to someone while staying quiet and
observing. The only thing to be kept in mind is you have to be present then and
there with 100% focus.
Small habits such as watching TV or talking too much while
eating, just doing a lot of stuff together at one time etc is something that we
unconsciously develop over time and do not realize that we are doing nothing
but just making our mind habitual of distractions by actually practicing
distractions!!!
That’s true that our mind is what we make of it. If we have
trained it to be distracted till now…training it to be focused and calm is also
possible right!!we just need to keep a very strict check on ourselves for at
least a month or s
Lets take up 21 day challenge and let it something as simple
as brushing your teeth! Just try to focus on it at that particular moment.
A challenge that with our own soul and a fight with our own
mind is the biggest challenge ever dealt and biggest fight ever won. Here is
when these lines of Rudyard Kipling come in my mind…….
If you
can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
